Getting the right Heads-Up Display, or HUD, running at the tables is one of the key differences between a grinder who plays for fun and someone who plays to be profitable. There are dozens of factors that go into what might shape your HUD like the stakes you play, the game you play, how many tables you play, the type of game, and its format. Fortunately, if you are a PokerTracker 3 user, there is an entire library of custom-built HUDs made by users and staff available to download for free.
To get to the free repository of HUDs, you’ll need to go to the PokerTracker 3 website and create an account. If you have one already, finding the repository can be a little tough since there’s no direct link on the side navigation. Click the “Get More” link and then links to “Reports,” “Statistics,” “Layouts,” and “Share Mine” will appear. To find a new HUD, go to the “Layouts” section.
When you get to the repository, you definitely want to check out the “Reports” and “Statistics” sections too. There are some great custom-built assets in there that will augment your PokerTracker 3 experience. For cash game players, there are reports for flopped sets, big loss hands, player performance, win-rate confidence, and big cards hit flop.
For tournament players, there are custom reports for all-in pre-flop and finish distribution for single-table tournaments. Moving over to the “Statistics” area, you’ll find custom stats to add to PokerTracker like 3bet Pre-Flop - Cbet Flop, Rakeback Tracking, Donk Bet Flop, Six-Max PFR from CO, and Call a 3Bet Pre-Flop and Fold to a Cbet.
For amazing HUDs, you’ll want to go to the “Layouts” area. In here, you’ll find all sorts of pre-made HUDs that you can download for free. Currently, there are two full pages of HUD layouts posted and you can filter through them at the top by picking “All Table Types,” “Cash Only,” or “Tourney Only” depending on what you are looking for. By default, you will see “All Table Types” and the system will sort by the number of downloads that each HUD layout has had.
The most popular HUD layout available for download is called “Advanced Hud M3 – Cash” and has been downloaded more than 6,900 times. This HUD has three different stat groups and includes the main bar of VPIP, PFR, 3-Bet Not Against a Blind Steal, Raise Limpers %, and Attempt to Steal. Each one of those stats is also color-coded.
The second group, which goes to the right of a player’s “box” at an online poker table, is the Hands/Notes group. It has the number of hands you have on that opponent as well as the note editor icon. The third and final group in this custom HUD goes below the box and has post-flop stats. The stats in this bar are C-Bet the Flop, Fold to Raise after C-Betting the Flop %, Donk Bet the Flop Percentage, and Double Barrel Percentage. The general stats and post-flop stats have specific pop-ups assigned to them that go into more detail.
The top custom HUD for tournaments is called “Advanced HUD – M4 Tournament” and includes the M stat within the HUD overlay. For those of you running this custom HUD for the first time, you’ll need to import some of the custom statistics included in the zip file when downloading this HUD; otherwise, it’ll look for stats that aren’t natively included with PokerTracker.
With resources available like the repository over at PokerTracker, the poker community has made it really easy to hit the ground running with a custom HUD.
